Seriously.
It’s only been 4 years since I went to prom but the one guy who did something “special” was laughed at. He wrote on this girl’s car, so that she had to say yes, but everyone knew she was screwing his black teammate behind his back (small southern town). She ended up leaving him at the…
Yeah, we never had anything elaborate going on with prom asking at my school. I remember junior year, I went with my boyfriend who I met while we both worked at Target (as @apeybug says, “He was in electronics, I was in food avenue - we were from two different worlds” - romantic comedy gold people), and he didn’t go to my high school so I asked him because how was he supposed to know when my high school’s prom was.
Senior year, I was dating another boyfriend I met at Target (noticing a trend?) and he didn’t even want to go because he had never gone to high school and didn’t want to be the weird guy intruding on my school’s prom. So then this guy Colton who I gave rides to asked me one day while I dropped him off at his Mustang. I said no. Then one day this bag guy at Publix (Brian? he went to my high school, but so did 3,000 other people) ran after me as I was walking to my car with my groceries and asked me to go with him. I also said no to him. I eventually convinced my Target boyfriend to go with me.
So, both proms I did the asking of my eventual date. Both guys worked at Target with me and didn’t go to my high school, so I am not sure what sort of elaborate fancy prom asking they would have done. Spelled out “Go to prom with me?” in straws while I worked at Food Avenue?
Oh man. You guys have never heard of how Prom goes down in Utah. In fact, it’s not even just Prom, it’s all the dances but Prom is the biggest. It all starts with the asking. My boyfriend and his friends serenaded all of their dates, in the middle of the night at each of our homes, in tuxedos. Not. A. Joke. Then there is the way to creative answer back. Then there is the day activity, dance, and night activity. This is an event here. EVENT. I wish I could find my pictures from it. Oh, some people in my high school went to Disneyland for there “day activity.” Out. Of. Control.
